My goal in life is to become an Olympian and win medals for my country
Daisy Jackson

I have loved horses and particularly dressage for as long as I can remember. I watched my first Grand Prix test at Olympia when I was 7 years old and I told my Mum then and there that I wanted to be a dressage rider and one day ride at Olympia!

The following year I performed my first dressage test on my pony Dash and after winning the class on 73%, I was well and truly hooked!

I joined BYRDS (British Young Riders Dressage Scheme) and had great fun attending the regular training and competitions on my first horse Spyder and then later on Sam who was leased to us by Sarah and Rebecca Eccles. It was also around this time that we started to look for a dressage trainer in the area as up until then I had only every trained with my mum who is a qualified trainer and used to ride at PSG level herself.  We were put in touch with Nicola Buchanan who had trained many horses to Grand Prix including Saint Swithens who was later to become my Junior horse.

I started to train with Nicola every week and in 2010 after retiring Swithens from Grand Prix she gave me the ride on him. Swithens was the most incredible schoolmaster. We were together for such a short time but in that period Swithens taught me all the Grand Prix movements, we competed up to Advanced Medium, including for BYRDS South West Team at the Home International and Under 25’s National Championships. We were placed in all 6 classes that we had qualified for at the U25’s, got to the regional’s at Advanced Medium and Medium Open and finally were selected onto the Junior GB squad. As part of the regular squad training I was lucky enough to have training sessions with Stephen Clarke, Sandy Phillips and Jennie Loriston Clark.

Sadly Swithens and I never got to any internationals as part of the squad because he was put to sleep in 2013 due to severe lameness.

Since then I have been training my younger horse Tango who I have had since he was 4. In our first season competing together we qualified for the regional’s at Elementary level with scores of up to 72%, we moved up to Medium level and scored over 69% on our debut and on the same day scored just under 66% at our first Advanced Medium. He is now working towards Grand Prix level.

In 2013, I was selected, one of 12 out of 80 applicants for the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) which is aimed at potential international riders. I was mentored by Nick Burton, World Class Development selector and coach, Olympic selector, Grand Prix rider and judge.  I have now completed my apprenticeship and am working towards my UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC). In the same year I went to work for Dan Greenwood which was an amazing experience. I had the privilege of schooling all of the horses from the youngsters to Dan’s advanced top horses. I learnt so much and gained valuable knowledge from both Dan and yard manager Jamie who were brilliant to work for. I then went on to work for the Countess of Shaftesbury producing her mares for grading before setting up my own training facility.

So far in my career I have been lucky enough to train with some fantastic people including Nicky Barrett, Gareth Hughes and Anna Ross.

I now have several horses out competing; Donny and Leo both young horses starting out in their careers. Tango and Blackberry who are competing at PSG and now competitive at Premier Leagues. My short term goal is to compete internationally at Small Tour level. Both Blackberry and Tango are working towards Grand Prix level at home.

I run my own professional training yard on the Dorset/Hampshire border where I produce my own and my owners horses, supported by my super team. I teach locally in the area and at clinics around the UK.

I consider myself an enthusiastic, friendly trainer with good communication skills, a positive and encouraging attitude with a passion for improving each combination. I enjoy teaching all levels and ages and as well as teaching locally am happy to travel nationwide for clinics. I am a British Dressage registered trainer, a British Dressage trainee list 3 judge, hold a first aid and safeguarding children certificate, am fully insured and train with some of the UK's top trainers.
